I recently returned from High Point Market inspired by the direction our industry is taking. Design is moving away from spaces that simply look beautiful and toward spaces that tell a story.
Without question, the biggest trend at Market was the dramatic return of wallpaper and murals. From expansive scenic landscapes to richly layered botanicals and artistic statement walls, wallcoverings have once again become a powerful design feature. These statement walls instantly add character, depth, and a sense of history to a space while creating a truly customized environment.
Architectural detailing is also making a strong comeback. Rich trim work, decorative moldings, paneling, and built-in architectural elements were everywhere. These details add sophistication, permanence, and craftsmanship that transform ordinary rooms into memorable spaces.
Textiles are becoming more luxurious and expressive as well. Designers are embracing embellishments such as bullion fringe, brush fringe, tassels, ruffles, tapes, and decorative trims. Fabrics are no longer simply functional—they are becoming jewelry for the home, adding texture, movement, and personality.
Natural materials continue to dominate, from woven shades and warm wood furnishings to handcrafted accessories and organic textures. The emphasis remains on creating homes that feel connected to nature and support well-being through thoughtful design.
Perhaps one of the most surprising trends was the popularity of Mahjong tables. Featured in numerous showrooms, these beautifully designed game tables reflect a growing desire for intentional entertaining and meaningful connection. As our lives become increasingly digital, homeowners are creating spaces that encourage gathering, conversation, and shared experiences with family and friends.
Color palettes are evolving as well. Soft sages, muted blues, dusty rose, warm terracotta, rich browns, and layered neutrals appeared throughout the market, creating interiors that feel warm, grounded, and inviting.
Another noticeable shift is a return to traditional influences. Collected pieces, heirlooms, and historically inspired designs are finding their way back into contemporary homes. Designers are thoughtfully blending old and new to create interiors with soul, character, and personal meaning.
The strongest trend of all may be this: homeowners want authenticity. They want homes that reflect their history, their travels, their families, and the things they love. They want spaces that feel curated rather than decorated.
As I explored the latest introductions from manufacturers and artisans across the market, I was encouraged to see so many trends that align with my own design philosophy—creating timeless, livable interiors that support both beauty and well-being.
The future of design is not about following trends. It is about creating homes that feel deeply personal, meaningful, and uniquely yours.
Live Beautifully. Live Well.
Warmly,
